Yes, I’ve been doing this on my iPhone for a while and it does work. I wouldn’t recommend it on public wifi though, since the bandwidth (and connectivity) might be unreliable.
Also, although Skype has their own app now, you can also use Fring (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=290948830&mt=8). Fring has a Skype client, as well as other voice and connectivity options.

hi, i would like to buy the microphone + speaker to use it for the “i am t-pain” app on my ipod touch 3g.but im not sure that if i plug in the microphone,it will play the music while im recording?anyone knows??thank you
