  1. As a patient and a caregiver for an elderly parent, I completely support the idea that the correct diagnosis is primary. This is not as easy as it sounds. I have learned that it is vital to keep trying until you are satisfied that you really know what is going on. I’m looking forward to reading your book.

  2. There are actually a suite of books by other citizen/authors offering guidance about how to advocate when hospitalized. Together they are a citizen’s encyclopedia to successful advocacy. In addition to Elizabeth’s book they are:

    • The Empowered Patient, Julia Hallisy (among the very best out there)
    • Notes from the Waiting Room: Managing a Loved One’s (End of Life) Hospitalization, Bart Windrum (me), http://www.HospitalPatientAdvocate.com
    • Hospital Stay Handbook, Jari Holland Buck.

If you’re serious about learning how to advocate when hospitalized you need to read these 4 books to get the complete picture.

  3. This is great information, Bart. Thank you very much for the references. These are sure to be helpful!
